MY STORY
This is how emotional pain showed up in my life over 20 years ago. This is the only photograph I have of that time as it was so painful.
I had become an expert at putting on a mask and showing up but inside I was experiencing anxiety,stress , couldn’t sleep,eating was out of control, money was a worry and I was bleeding to death.
Honestly I couldn’t see there would ever be a way out
I had lost the love of my life who was married and deployed in Iraq, I had been abused, was in financial debt, I was told I could never have children whilst bleeding with giant clots and I was trying to show up for work, my family and the diplomatic circle my parents belonged to by putting on a mask pretending all was ok.
One day I finally gathered up the courage to go to my GP and ask for help, I was faced with an 8 month waiting list for one single cognitive behavioural therapy session and was told I should pull myself together and get on with it as there were people way worse of than me.
I remember thinking, How much worse can they be? because at that moment, I honestly didn’t know if I could keep going.
This was however was the pivotal moment in my life that changed EVERYTHING.
